Well before i even start to post my rant here, I understand that it is risky gvging during a preview event.
Now, My guild r 180 or something during the battle, fights a r23 guild running NR. Think it was Alliance Smrf Guild or something like that. We are American they are European. We have a good battle at the stand with them dropping one of our monks and our necro around 5 minutes in, then about 7 or 8 minutes into the match we drop their ranger, war, then continue to drop both monks, they rez and we drop them again. Clearly at this point we have the advantage with a morale boost coming in about 45 sec. Theydrop into base to wait for their monks to rez, and we take out a few npcs, set the catty up and fall our to wait for morale. Then, as they walk out of the gate I hit shock, and it blinks and I freeze. Vent goes crazy with 4 other people saying, "WTF just happened?!?!" then i err7 about 1 minute later along with FOUR other guildies... I'm not exagerating at all, literally FIVE of us err7 all at once, and their guild (being on a euro server) had 0 err7.
Now I dont expect them to resign out since they were r23 and it would have given them a big hit, and tbh there was stil half a gvg left to play, so who knows if we would have won or not...
My complaint is this, how does Anet expect us to try the new classes out when their servers cant handle people playing on them? they should thnkabout these things, before they start their events, and imo i think every single PvE player should drop before 1 person in a GvG drops...
Anyway sorry for the rant but this was ridiculous, woulda got +21 for the win but instead we lost 8. So basically Anet lost us 29 pts and thajt doesnt make me happy...

And how can this be done?
"Oh, this person is about to drop out from GvG, so I'm going to have to kill off every other person that's not GvGing!"

lol, i dont know how it could be done, but it just pisses me off that we lost 5 players b/c the servers weren't stable for a pve event... u know what i mean? i know it cant be done, bu I think more time should go into planning the preview events to prevent these things from happening.

We had a monk drop before the gates opened in one match today, and a ranger drop in the middle in another. Our monks were also lagging so much in some matches that they couldn't heal 4-second spikes.

Reconnect please.
Agreed, but in all honesty it wouldnt solve the majority of the problems, although it would help. Picture this:
Monk err7 at flag stad. Unless you're oppenents are extremely good sports and wait for your monk to come back you're screwed because they will roll through the one monk before your other monk has time to reconnect, and lets face it, most teams wont stop for you.
however, reconnects would solve a good amount of problems, like if a war err7 then you can just go into defense mode and wait for the reconnect. anyway i wish the err7 problem (and its a huge problem) would get fixed, but if it cant, then reconnects would be very very nice.

yes, every other online game i've ever come into contact with has reconnects, why doesn't guild wars?
to stop people logging out and in to prevent death, they should just make your character stay ingame for 30 seconds before it disapears, then if you log onto a character other than your still ingame one the previous one logs out

Are you talking about people getting the survivor title the cheap way here?
I don't think preventing death in GvG would be such a huge advantage if it means you're logged out for ~30 seconds. Still I like the idea.

I have had this same problem with lag. I get 5-10 second delays and displacement.
Our guild decided not to gvg during the event because past events had the same problems. Every since their servers overheated and crashed GW I swear its never been the same again.
I have constant lag even without this even. Especially when the 2 teams meet at the stand for the first time.

i mean if you still insta log out people would just hit f12 in gvg when they were going to die, then log back in
there would need to be a delay added so your character stays ingame 30 seconds or so after you log out, so people cant exploit it

I just err=7 out of GvG...no comment.btw, i dont think it would be possible to abuse it, since it takes about 10 seconds to relog(including loading n stuff).
Reconnects please.

From what I can recall of previous discussions there is some technical issue preventing or at least making much more difficult the implementation of reconnects (something to do with "unique instances" that I dont entirely understand).
Then there is the issue of reconnect abuse, which would need to be 100% watertight or people would abuse it.
Yes its a pain, and yes it needs to be sorted out if it can be, but I dont think, from what I have read on this issue, that it is likely to be implemented

Say in GvG:
I lag out.
I reconnect with my account onto the character select screen
A message pops-up: "You were recently disconnected from the Guild Wars server. Would you like to reconnect to that server? [Yes/No]"
*Yes*
You reappear at your resurrection shrine with 15%dp more than you had before the d/c.
You only get the message if you were disconnected less than 4 minutes earlier, to prevent abuse.
I think that sounds reasonably fair... anything i missed?
